About the Urgent Care Foundation
Share |

The Urgent Care Foundation had its origins in the desire to expand ongoing Fellowship Programs currently administered by the Urgent Care Association (UCA). In the spring of 2009, a group of thought leaders in the urgent care field met to discuss many of the challenges facing the urgent care industry. The group decided that a separate entity was needed to address two of the most serious issues

  • Support for training the next generation of physicians and physician leaders in urgent care medicine.
  • Support for research activities in the field of urgent care medicine.

The Urgent Care Foundation was created to accomplish this and incorporated in 2011. Trustees were recruited based on their credentials and expertise in the field, as well as their vision for the future success of the role of Urgent Care Medicine as an essential part of the healthcare landscape. The Urgent Care Foundation received its 501(c)3 approval from the Internal Revenue Service on August 17, 2012.

The Urgent Care Foundation enhances the role, purpose and awareness of urgent care medicine by inspiring and contributing to research, education, clinical and practice management leadership, as well as innovation in new and emerging healthcare delivery models.

Universal recognition of urgent care medicine as an essential component of healthcare, thereby allowing urgent care centers to make significant contributions to the health and wellness of the communities they serve world-wide.
