Join Kelly for a light-hearted approach to the serious world of OSHA and HIPAA; where safety of the employee is key and patient privacy is a must. The OSHA portion will concentrate on the rights of the employee and the responsibilities of the employer. How to prepare for an OSHA inspection and determine the possible compliance deficiencies that can occur and how to correct them. In the HIPAA section will address the differences between privacy and security, covered entities and business associates. Learners will be able to determine how to set up a facility so that it can be more HIPAA compliant and discover the penalties for anyone that is involved in a breech.
- Define OSHA's main objective and describe the roles of employers and employees.
- Implement safety and emergency measures throughout the facility.
- Describe what HIPAA stands for and what it means to patients, providers, staff and others.
- Determine what constitutes a privacy breech and devise plans to prevent it.
- Identify common non-compliance issues in the urgent care setting and develop a plan of corrective action.
