The panel of real life telemedicine know-how will discuss perspectives on insurance-affiliated, independent operator, and hospital-affiliated telemedicine platforms. They will also discuss differences in vendor solutions, cover the current state of telemedicine in urgent care and debate where telemedicine and urgent care might be headed. They will identify best practices / lessons learned from early deployments, and finally address some of the financial implications for the urgent care operator.

Bernie Kuhn, MBA
Bernie Kuhn is a Principal at Merchant Medicine, LLC. He assists clients with strategic program management, finance, operations, employer programs, marketing, and real estate development. Previously he was Senior Vice President for Corporate Development at UCI Medical Affiliates/Doctors Care where he was responsible for marketing, acquisitions and divestitures, real estate, employer operations, and product development for 52 urgent care centers and 21 physical therapy offices with 1,100+ employees delivering 800,000 annually patient encounters. He also held a dual role as Vice President at parent insurer BCBSSC. Prior to UCI, Mr. Kuhn was a Senior Manager in the management consulting practice at global services firm KPMG. His prior experience in corporate management and consulting spans health care, pharmaceuticals, retail, and insurance. Mr. Kuhn received a BA in Accounting at Michigan State University and an MBA at the University of Florida. He is a National Outdoor Leadership School graduate, and is an avid cyclist for MS and Diabetes Tour de Cure rides. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and a speaker and practice management board member for the Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA).
Milton Chen, PhD
Dr. Milton Chen is the founder and CEO of VSee - a simple video telehealth platform used by MDLIVE and health systems such as Davita, International SOS, and Intermountain. He became fascinated with the psychology behind human computer interactions while at Stanford University, leading him to pioneer research on the human factors and design of video collaboration. Milton is a recipient of the DEMO God award and the co-author of the XMPP video standard - used by Google Talk and Facebook Chat. Milton’s goal has always been to make videoconference simple and accessible to anyone anywhere in the world. He has deployed VSee (enterprise version) on humanitarian projects for Hillary Clinton, Angelina Jolie, Mandy Moore, Linkin Park and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and has worked in refugee camps from Syria to Southeast Asia to Africa.
Greg Carroll, MD
Gregory Carroll, MD is the current Market President and Medical Director for Legacy-GoHealth. He is a board certified emergency physician with 20 plus years in emergency/urgent care and had graduated from Tulane University’s School of Medicine. Greg has a passion for providing outstanding patient experience and clinical quality. He is focused on creating direct connections between community based urgent care centers and the full spectrum of care provided by innovative and mature health systems like Legacy. In his free time, Greg is enjoys cycling and you’ll find him hitting the roads whenever possible.
Javeed Siddiqui, MD, MPH
Dr. Javeed Siddiqui is the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer for TeleMed2U. Dr. Siddiqui has been actively involved in telemedicine and telehealth since 2002 and has been recognized as a national thought leader. Dr. Siddiqui served as the Medical Director of one the nation’s top telemedicine programs at the University of California, Davis. TeleMed2U is a multi-specialty medical practice that is 100% telemedicine based. TeleMed2U has pioneered work in developing and implementing telemedicine services and programs to hospitals and outpatient clinics. In 2012 the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality recognized TeleMed2U for its telemedicine based anti-microbial stewardship program.
