This session discusses sleep disorders and presentations of these in the urgent care setting. Learn how to manage sleep apnea and insomnia, and obtain techniques that can help patients to feel more rested despite having hectic schedules and shift work.
•Describe the approach to sleep disorders in the urgent care setting
•List differential diagnosis for patients presenting with difficulty sleeping
•Describe how to identify patients, child and adult, who may have sleep apnea
•State the proper counseling that should be provided to patients about sleep hygiene and behavior modifications that can help improve quality of sleep
•Discuss 3 techniques to help effectively catnap and awake refreshed during our long days.

I am a 35 year old father of three, living in Rochester, NY. I work full-time at UR Medicine Urgent Care. I enjoy all aspects of urgent care, especially sports medicine and psychiatric cases. In my spare time I enjoy playing violin, spending time with my family, and rooting for my favorite sports teams. I am excited to lecture at my first UCAOA conference and eager to become more involved..
